John McBarron Hodgson, MD

Dr. Hodgson is an internationally acclaimed cardiologist who, prior to founding Santé Cardiology, was the Chief of Academic Cardiology at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He is an honors graduate of Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., and Dartmouth College (magna cum laude). Dr. Hodgson’s post-graduate training includes internal medicine residency at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY and the University of Michigan Hospitals, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a cardiology fellowship at University of Michigan Hospitals; and an invasive cardiology research fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital, Brown University, Providence, R.I.

Since finishing his training he has devoted his academic career to training the next generation of physicians. He has been an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Virginia and subsequently a Tenured Professor of Medicine at Case Medical School in Cleveland. He has served in many administrative positions and has developed four Cardiology Departments. John has been active in both basic and clinical research particularly in the area of coronary physiology and atherosclerosis. He has published over 200 peer reviewed articles, 8 books or book chapters and holds two patents. He has developed novel CD and Web-based training tools and won the international Adobe Macromedia Max Award for best educational software on two occasions.

A recent Past President of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, John remains active in national issues surround healthcare payment and coding. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for the Certification Board for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

Dr. Hodgson is currently a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, fellow of the American Heart Association Council on Circulation, fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, founding member of the Society for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, fellow in the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
